St. Thomas the Apostle Sport Program-
Home of the Tomcats

St. Thomas Apostle 3rd through 8th graders are eligible to participate in CYO girls volleyball and basketball, CYO boys basketball, and SFPSBL baseball. Also, 3rd through 8th grade boys can play basketball in the Police Activities League and Flame Tournament. Sign ups for these sports are taken in their classrooms.

The Sports Program is supervised and funded by the Sports Committee, a group of parent volunteers who usually meet the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Parents may attend these meetings anytime and are encouraged to volunteer to join the Committee.

The Sports Program is funded 40% from the sports fees paid by the participants and 60% by fundraising. The major fund raiser is the Jogathon held every November.

The fee for participating on a CYO team is $100 per sport. Uniform shorts and jerseys are provided for CYO sports.

STA Sports Program uses the Presidio Middle School's two gyms (29th Avenue between Geary and Clement) on Thursday and Friday evenings. Thursday evenings are used for team practices, and Friday evenings are reserved for league games.

Schedules available on the CYO website cyo.cccyo.org

Volleyball: Sign-ups for girls volleyball are taken in June and again in August. League games begin in mid-September and run through mid-November. Games are played on Friday evenings and weekends. Parents are expected to help provide transportation for the team members.

Basketball: A number of boys basketball tournaments are played in November and December. CYO boys basketball begins in January and continues to mid-March. CYO girls basketball begins in March and goes to mid-May.
